Who We Are

Kicking Bear One-on-One is a nationwide mentoring program developed by world-renowned bow hunter Ray Howell. The Kicking Bear Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. It encourages our sportsmen and women to get involved with today’s youth by becoming mentors.

The Kicking Bear staff teams up with local clubs to organize campouts, shed hunts, and many other events. The campouts and shoots are a great way to introduce our youth to the outdoors and the sport of archery. Events typically take place from a Friday evening to Saturday evening. The events are comprised of all sorts of activities including overnight camping, DNR displays, educational presentations, tug-of-war, sack races, Simon Says, fishing, hayrides, bonfire, fireside stories, bow safety instruction, 3-D archery, a traditional marshmallow fight and ending with prizes being awarded at the conclusion of the event.

Kicking Bear asks sponsors to cover the costs of the products/prizes utilized at the events. Each hosting organization contacts local sponsors to cover the cost of food and other items. This allows our organization to offer the Kicking Bear experience to under-privileged and at-risk youth at absolutely no charge!

Kicking Bear is transformational for youth and mentors alike. It gives them new insights into how to build healthy relationships and approach their lives in a new fashion.
