2017 WI Youth Deer Hunt
Hello all! It's that time of year again when the magic of the hunting season begins! The amazing wildlife, lifelong relationships, and sharing God's great outdoors with others overcomes most of our minds!!
This year Kicking Bear will continue the tradition of bringing kids into the great outdoors for the annual Wisconsin Youth Deer Hunt!
When: October 6th-8th We are meeting at Gander Mountain at 2 pm on the 6th. Details on the return trip TBA. Mentor and volunteer meeting will be September 20th, 8pm at La Crosse Archery.
1)Children- 10-15 years old (see below)
2) Christian Kicking Bear Mentors and Camp volunteers
Where: Monarch Valley Whitetails and other amazing donated land in Buffalo near Whitehall- thanks so much to our land sponsors! Leaving from Gander Mountain at 2pm on October 6th.
Cost: There is no cost for qualifying kids to participate- Kicking Bear thanks all of our banquet sponsors/attendees and our year long supporters for this great opportunity!
As we get started to plan the event, we need to share this event with kids who otherwise wouldn't have the opportunity to share time with a Christian mentor in a hunting setting. Please share this link with any potential Kicking Bear kids parent or guardian! Given the limited spots we can't accept everyone and will review the applicants and decide from there.
Legal requirements: Child must be 10 years old prior to the hunt and not greater than 15 years old. Hunter Safety is not required for this hunt. Boys and Girls are welcome, girls would be teamed with a female guide!
Apply NOW! (Deadline is 9/10/17)
This year the Kicking Bear volunteers have started preparing the stage for another amazing first hunt, mentoring, and sharing God's amazing powers to kids through the great outdoors. The application deadline for Mentors/Mentees is September 10th 2017 (new deadline)!
Kicking Bear is looking for 2 things:
1) Amazing men and women of faith to be MENTORS!
2) Kids that NEED to be mentored.
Kicking Bear Mentor-ship
Men and women of faith and who love the outdoors are encouraged to become Kicking Bear Mentors. The opportunity of mentor-ship has blessings in two ways:
1) kids get 1:1 spirit filled attention that they desperately need.
2) Mentors receive the satisfaction of guiding amazing kids to a better way of life while hunting or shooting. "Fishers of Men"
The Kicking Bear Mentor-ship program is focused around spirit filled, purposeful interactions between mentors and mentees and uses the outdoors as an amazing medium. Mentors are asked to connect with your mentee at least 4 times throughout the year. If you feel that you have been lead to mentor an in need child in the outdoors this program is for you!! To become a mentor you will need to fill out an application form.

Non Mentor adults are encouraged to be involved with the Kicking Bear events, but will be paired with a Kicking Bear mentor during any Kicking Bear sponsored events. Our hope is that non mentors that share in this amazing opportunity will one day become a Kicking Bear Mentor. Note: NO 1 on 1 activities will be available for those adults that are not Kicking Bear Mentors.
Kids need solid adult, spirit filled figures in their lives.
Mentors provide fun outdoor opportunities that build lasting relationships.
Mentors and Mentees are expected to get together at least 4 times throughout each year.
If you have any questions about being a Mentor please email [email protected].
